There's an interesting forum that I follow called skyscrapercity.com (thanks dysan1). It's geared towards development and construction, but also dabbles in all sorts of general topical content, including promoting cities and tourism.
Anyway, long story short; their users have posted hundreds of photos of Durbs that I think are wasted in the pages of the forums: it's a nightmare to navigate and takes forever to load up the huge high-res images. So I've collected them together using a nifty Firefox trick and some fast bandwidth, and added them to our Picasaweb channel for everyone to enjoy. It's better because you can browse the thumbnails and only download the ones that interest you. Click on the link below:
Despite the DA and IFP's claims to the contrary, we all heard the reports of violence and looting at the march against the name changes. Here's a fantastic picture of some marchers stealing from a street vendor! It was snapped by rogan.w and posted to his flickr account, check the original here.
These three pics are especially for the expats out there! God, don't you miss it here? It must awful not being able to see this beautiful city every day!
The Cuban HatYou remember them, you were there, but you didn't get the T-shirt because... well, there weren't any. Damn. Anyway - now you can relive the memory by hauling out those fading old photos for all the world to see. Nightclubs, bars, favourite late-night haunts, popular hang-outs, ye olde spots - they're gone but the memory lives on - send in your photos!
In case you didn't already get ten copies in your inbox, here are the photos from this morning's chaos at the beachfront! Huge surf has pretty much destroyed anything within fifty meters of the usual high water mark. Um, time to repent, sinners?
I have no idea who took these photos, but they're too good to not share! Pics from the freak storm and flash flood last night, forwarded to me on email.
I love Durban. While the rest of the country was experiencing snow and floods, we had temperatures in the high teens and a sunny weekend with little to complain about besides the fresh wind. Here are some photos I took on the weekend at Zinkwazi Beach, up the KZN north coast.
