Everyone reading this should have some understanding of the age old game known as "Poker"... Yes you have heard of this? Why then has the game suddenly soared in popularity around the world and more recently in South Africa? Allow me to explain...
Guys and girls, this is important, so listen up! Durban's comedy scene is practically non-existent, and aside from the odd once-off festival at Sibaya, it's hardly ever that comedians get a decent opportunity to entertain us. Well, Glen Bo is a South African comedian who has been highly successful working the U.K. scene for the past four years. He's down for a once-off show in Durbs, and we've got two free tickets to give away exclusive to durbanscouts.za.net!
I don't even know why I'm bringing this up. I mean, REALLY now. But alas, here it is, an old ticket that proves there was a party, eight years ago, on a razed sugar cane field in Ballito. That I may or may not have attended. The jury is still out.
Seemed like every hipster and his long lost cousin turned up for this one. The only advertising I had heard for this gig was via Durbanscouts, but the word sure did spread like wildfire! Having high profile sponsors like Iron Fist, Miller and Camel coming to the party meant free MGD for the early part of the evening, and some scantily clad ciggie chicks peddling their wares with what was certainly the most inventive use of ammunition belts ever!
Mooi RiverHaving never been to a Southern Cross festival until last weekend, I really didn't know what to expect from this four day event in the stunning 'hidden valley' of Mooi River. I was therefore delighted to experience something quite unlike the wild debauchery normally associated with big music festivals in KZN.
Due to popular request (i.e. hedmekanik asked me in passing - all credit to him), I've added a calendar module! You can see four upcoming events on the right of the screen, and by clicking 'more' you can go to a complete monthly display.
It’s a long weekend, so why not spend it at the Southern Cross music festival, which promises to be an unforgettable event. The highlights include Lark, Dan Patlansky and Durban’s own Dopescape; amongst many other quality bands.
Earthdance is another example of the joining of intent through collective action that our generation is blessed to see. Over 250 parties occur at the same time across this planet three from the sun.
Thanks to the very cool organisers of White Mountain, we have free tickets to give away to two readers and their partners! This festival has a star-studded line up of musicians, and is being organised by C-Weed, the same guys who bring you KZN's favorite festival, Splashy Fen!
