Lots of things going down this weekend, and there's a public holiday next Wednesday, so let's get into it...
Thursday 3rd August
Tonight Society will be screening a movie! Yes you read that right. It's called Tabon, and it's about an artist who takes his friend on a quest to meet a lesbian in Maputo. I kid you not. Sounds like very interesting viewing. 8pm, 178 Florida Road.
Friday 4th August
Triphazard Soundsystem presents Nick Grater (Powertoolz/Cluster) and UK DJ/Producer Zeus (Roots), plus OneTrackMike and KidColt. The_looking_glass highly recommends this gig. It's at The Willowvale Hotel, R40.
Also on Friday, Flash Republic will be mixing tracks at Society, 9pm, R40. From the Gresham Records site:
Flash Republic's media & tour campaign will be directed at the established South African & International dance market with the inclusion of the gay and university audiences. In addition, we will enter into the Kwaito market, with single remixes. (Ages range 18 - 35 years)
Within this primary target market Flash Republic will include the existing fan base of Tamara Dey, Ryan Dent and Craig Massiv (Ages range 6 - 30 years).
Expect to see some 6 year-old gay kwaito-lovin' varsity students dancing the night away! Go check the show out it promises to be an awesome event.

Saturday 5th August
The Jazzy Rainbow presents Funk Fry, it's R10 to get in, no under 25's and the address is 93 Goble Road.
Deity's Muse will be launching their CD at Burn, it's called The Eyes Don't See What The Heart Bleeds and Dopescape will be supporting them.
Johannesburg's DEITY's MUSE has being kicking hard around the indie scene for a number of years. With their Paracetomol EP in 2004 they showed promise but it's with the forthcoming full length The Eyes Don't See What the Heart Bleeds that they establish themselves as one of South Africa's top rock acts. Make sure that you catch them for the cd launch at Red Door on Friday, August 4, and at Burn, with DOPESCAPE, on Saturday, August 5.
Tuesday 8th August (Wednesday is a public holiday)
Come party on Virginia Beach for a Full Moon Drum Circle! I know a few of us will be taking some fire toys for a show!
