Some people have asked me to set up a mailing list, so that there’s an easy way for everyone to get the latest gig guide and party info! I think it’s a great idea, so here’s the first letter for your jolling convenience. If you’ve got stuff to add, anything, even if it’s a big Warcraft LAN party (ya right), send it to me at admin@durbanscouts.za.net and I’ll put it on the list! We're not biased towards any scene, or band, or anyone really...
If you’re wondering how on earth I got your address, then ponder no more: I bought a whole bunch of emails off some guy I met on the internet! He said he collected them by getting people to forward spam emails, and he sold them to me for a small fortune. Your address is being whored on the internet, and he’s your pimp that you never knew about!
In future I’m going to be organizing special offers, like ticket giveaways for example, through this list and durbanscouts.za.net so keep checking your mail and the site!
Right, onto this weekend:
Friday 14th July is complete overkill - there are three venues hosting great bands, and the only way to make a fair decision would be to throw a dart at a map of Durban!
Let's see... firstly we've got...
Lowprofile
The Breaks
BHoRA
@ The Winston, 9pm, R15
Plus the first 20 through the door get a four track band room BHoRA demo! That gig looks superb... and very reasonably priced, especially if you hook up a CD.
Then, on the same night, 5 bands...
Purephonic
Mea
Passenger
Habit To
Timothy Leary Is Innocent
@ Chiltern Park, 7pm, R30
This one will be R30, and starts at 7pm! 5 bands at Chiltern? That's gonna be a squeeze, but it should be sweet, and makes it worth paying the R30 for. Plus, Chiltern is always a blast.
But then you could also go to Burn, once again on the same night:
Exit the Fall
Fiend
5 Leaves Left
Planet of Eva
Within a Breath
@ Burn, 8pm, R25
This is for the opening of the "Burn the Bands" competition! The entrance is R25, and if you attended the compo last year, you'll know how completely awesome these nights are!
Then, if you've still got some energy on Saturday 15th July, check out the following bands:
Clone
Lynchpin
Exit the Fall
Code of Silence
@ Winston, 7.30pm, R20
Not to be left out of the fun, Society will be hosting the following live acts on Sunday 16th July:
Jason Glover And Shamon
The City Bowl Mizers
@ Society, R30
Live music is my passion, and what more could any music lover ask for? 18 Bands playing at 4 venues over 3 nights, it's like a mini Durban festival! Enjoy it everyone.
PLEASE! If you don’t want to receive this email for whatever reason (like you’re a loser), there’s a link at the bottom of the page to unsubscribe! If you don’t click it, then be prepared to receive an email approximately “whenever we feel like it"?, or whenever there’s cool stuff going down.
If you think your friends would dig to get this aswell, then tell them to make a free account at www.durbanscouts.za.net! That automatically puts you on the list.
