Durban based collaborators known collectively as Rustpunk are back to bring us what promises to be a night of genre skipping partying and all round mayhem.

Expect to hear a mindblowing array of tunes (see flyer) played by DJ’s Dean(Captain Asthma/ Sound Of And Band), Brad (Cocktail Weightless/ Lo Boob Oscillator), Marcel (Street Sounds of Durban), with VJ Rike providing a feast of visual projections for your viewing pleasure.

Also on the bill are Cape Town retro glam outfit The Wild Eyes. According to the website, “This energetic trio could adequately be described as Ziggy Stardust backed by the Strokes who have spent the whole afternoon on mushrooms listening to Stiff Little Fingers, Iggy Pop and Donna Summer."? Sounds!

Rustpunk @ Blue Waters, 2005Rustpunk @ Blue Waters, 2005Past Rustpunk parties have always stood out by the unusual choice of venue – Oslo's in Frere Rd and The Bluewaters Hotel being memorable ones. I love the idea of forcing people to step out of their comfort zones while appreciating a different and often undiscovered facet of Durban.

The Willowvale Hotel is the setting for the shindig, taking place on Saturday 20 May @ 9pm. Cover is R30

Do yourself the hugest favour and be there. And don’t forget your dancing shoes.

The Wild EyesThe Wild EyesWhat an AWESOME night out, shot to everyone involved with putting this together! I caught the last half of The Wild Eyes, who were superb, and then spent about 2 hours jamming on the best dance floor I've been on in years!

Seriously, where does that music come from? It's got so much personality and character, it's like a futuristic blend of retro, glam-rock, funk, drum-n-bass, techno and pop! I can't remember the last time I heard something so refreshing and cool.

This is the future of dance people. Amazing stuff. I was totally blown away and had to tear myself off kicking at the end.

The general vibe at the party was also brilliant, loads of funky people having a blast and partying hard.

Rustpunk should open a club in Durban. They would totally clean out the other places.

Oh ya, if anyone knows a bunch of guys that drive a red van/truck/lorry thing, and smashed the back of my white opel kadett by the willowvale on saturday, tell them "fuck you" and karma will bite their asses for hit-and-running.

Everyone who was there hit that dance floor hard!! Awesome venue.
Such a great nite...and the kiffest tunes that appeal to everybody. u cant not enjoy it!
The Wild eyes were cool too..kinda reminded me of Hedwig and the Angry Inch - anyone seen it?? Very obscure movie about a tranny and his/her band.
