Ok sorry, this is slightly off-topic, but still related to the mindset of the way some clubs are run in this town.

On Friday night i found myself involved in a rather precarious situation - one which was ballhairs away from my face having reconstructive surgery attempted with a fist and no knife.

Some clubs (whose names DARE i mention)are claiming the right to the property beyond the inside of their club ie: the cars parked outside...I was promoting my upcoming event (at Panama Room) outside a well-known 'rave' club in Durbs and was ultimately surrounded by a couple 'roid-heads and two bouncers claiming i had no right to be there - not exactly in those words !!!
The bouncers were called to basically 'teach me a lesson' and somehow, strangely enough i was able, after about twenty minutes to talk my way out of the situation and be 'allowed to get in my car and leave queitly'...

I thought the days of these fucken meatheads running wild with their shrunken ballsacks and loaded guns had passed, since we're all a bit older now, but how naieve of me.

It's one thing to firstly think you have the right to public property and not welcome what in this world of business is known as 'competition' - but it's another matter altogether when it comes to how one deals with a situation. After realising (which was basically from the second i was approached) that these pricks weren't happy to just give me a slap on the wrist i withdrew and assured them i would leave immediately and not put flyers on 'their' cars ... but being civil and rational are two words these monkeys can't spell and it was impossible to reason with them.

Anyhow, this is not the only club that thinks the streets belong to them - BURN nightclub for fucksakes! If there's a club out there we should not be worried about it's BURN, but clearly not!! I have had agressive bouncers on my case for the same thing there - doing promo (flyers on publicly-parked cars) for an event that is not taking place there! How PATHETIC - and BURN doesn't even have one other alternative club in competition with them...

Who do these people think they are to stop people from attempting to make a success of their own endeavours on public property ??? If everybody were to run around threatening whoever dare to make a business out of the same thing they do the human race wouldn't exist!

Maybe they should get out of Durban into the real world and see what life is like outside of their egotistical little bubble.

Its people like this (and unfortunately there are many) that give Durban the conservative/backward/'jock' mentality that it has and makes me embarassed to say i'm from here.
