Seems like politics is the subject of the day, so here goes:
The Mansion doesn't bother me that much.
As for doing something about the state of affairs, you can always join the crimexpo protests but then you buy into the "kill tourism to save the country" ideal.
Zuma is old news but interests me nonetheless. What is going to happen in 2009? I see a number of different scenarios emerging.
1) ANC announces a different presidential candidate, Zuma and his supporters bow out gracefully and disappear forever.
2) ANC announces a different presidential candidate, Zuma and his supporters riot and destroy everything. A new party is formed with Zuma at the head and war begins similar to the IFP / ANC conflicts but much worse.
3) ANC announces Zuma as new candidate. Non-Zuma supporters riot...
The problem is that nobody really knows what Zuma stands for - he hasn't ever stated his policies as it's ANC custom to deny that you want to be president (what a stupid custom - just come clean and admit it!).
He has this reputation as a Zulu warrior and a 'people's man', but what does that actually mean? Will he change economic policy? Will he bring in an age of socialism/communism to replace capitalism? Will he give all arable farmland to unskilled blacks?
Or maybe he'll just do exactly what Mbeki has done?
It's a mystery! The only reason we can provide for not wanting him is that he's morally dodgy and uneducated (no formal education whatsoever).
