While i agree with the majority of your comments regarding the condescending nature of the sponsors, i personally feel that your opinions regarding the bands' performances were grossly biased and rather unfair.
Having been a Passenger fan myself for some time, I naturally voted for them on entrance to Burn. After watching their performance, however, I really regretted giving them my vote. And I am so sorry to say that. Their vocals were not up to their usual standard and they, in comparison to the other bands playing, bar Habit To whom I walked out on, had no stage presence. I was very disappointed.
On the other hand, however, I was hugely impressed with Veeva Feeva and The Banx. Veeva Feeva were a fun, light-hearted band and that was awesome to see for a change. The Banx, although there are similarities between them and Nirvana, are, by no means, trying to imitate the band. There is much that I could say in their defence, but then I may start to sound biased myself. But, in all honesty, the Durban crowd needs to lay off the "Banx-Nirvana" thing - they are a talented band and deserve to be seen so. I am not saying that you need to become a fan, but just appreciate that they are making music.
With that all said, it is important to note that I am aware that the competition was based purely on professionalism and not talent, and sadly I feel that that is the only reason why Passenger won on the night. It's so sad that the organisers have so little understanding of why the majority of people listen to music. But then, perhaps they do.
