Battle For Woodstock, Habit To

Photo from Splashy FenThe local bands involved in the Battle For Woodstock competition are busting a gut to promote themselves ahead of the gig at Burn this Saturday, but of course there's only room for one winner who gets to play at this year's Woodstock festival.

Habit To are one of the bands competing, and they're possibly one of the most underrated groups in Durban at the moment. I was planning on doing a longer, more elaborate write up but now it seems that if I did, I would be accused of some kind of bias. I am bias of course, but I don't want you to know that.

The truth is, I wish they all could win it.

So without further ado, here's Habit To's pamphlet for Burn. It also entitles you to R10 off at the door, and not to be outdone by Passenger, they will be giving away free caps, CD's and drinks to people who bring it with.

Andy, the bass man, had something to say via email:

On Saturday we are competing in the Battle for Woodstock competition at Burn nightclub (Walls Ave - off Umgeni Rd, Stamford Hill)! It will be on TV (MK89 every Wednesday, 18:30) so be there and look pretty. We are ugly and our music is below average, so we really need your help to support us and vote so we can go through to the finals. Even if you can't make it, sms "BATTLE - HABIT TO" to 35551 on Saturday night! This counts towards our votes.

Note the clever use of sarcasm there - you have my vote guys.

I'll be going in early with my Passenger flyer and getting the free CD, then much later I plan on washing the stamp off and strapping an oversized fake nose onto my face in order to pay entrance fee again with the Habit To flyer. That way everybody wins, especially those people lucky enough to catch a glimse of my fine nasal appendage. It's a rare and beautiful sight.
