Well, georgie, while I can only agree with your verdict of Suncoast being 'the most tasteless pastiche ever' (despite the cash I've won there), the Sagrada Familia is hardly the work of any one 'free-thinking architect'. Although the vision and basic structure may be Gaudi's, since 1940 the architects Francesc Quintana, Isidre Puig Boada, LluĂs Bonet i Gari and Francesc Cardoner have carried on the work. The result of which is a work that, it has to be said, is quite the architectural cacophony when viewed up close. Old parts stand alongside modern (and pretty unsympathetically-designed) annexes, something driven home by the patina of grime which covers all parts older than sixty years or so. It looks great from afar, but as you get closer...
But hey, it's still a mind-boggler.
