Doing this sort of

Doing this sort of performance on Durban beachfront is ILLEGAL. I know this because I have tried and been threatened with a fine by the parks board. As a street performer with 5 years busking experience at the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town, as well as London and Dubai, this is very frustrating. I have even met with representatives from the municipality - as well as bringing it up in the 'imagine durban' forum to try and explain that it is a form of ENTERTAINMENT, and not begging but so far no joy.

Incidentally, Margate beach on the south coast welcomes street performers and this is where I do my rope walking, unicycling and fire juggling act during the holiday season.

I will keep trying to get this legalised, as there are actually a lot of good street acts in Durban who could make the beachfront experience more entertaining.
